Leading the Race to Embrace
As a nonprofit, we're dedicated to equipping students with the AI knowledge and tools they need to thrive in tomorrow's world.
The National Institute for AI in Education (NIAIE) exists to make the United States the fastest and most effective nation in the world at integrating AI into K-12 education and to ensure that American students can become fluent in AI and gain the practical skills needed to lead and work in an AI-driven economy and future.
Artificial Intelligence is transforming every aspect of our society, yet most K–12 students still graduate without the skills or fluency to thrive in an AI-powered world. The NIAIE is here to change that.
Our nonprofit is leading the Race to Embrace AI in Education by developing bold AI learning standards, certifying AI-ready schools, and creating student-centered programs that bring artificial intelligence to life in the classroom.
From national student showcases in AI like the AIxCHANGE, to real-world AI simulation through PromptPoint AI Debate, to schoolwide transformation via our flagship AI-FIRST certification, NIAIE equips students, teachers, and leaders with the tools to go beyond AI literacy and become AI leaders.
We work with schools, districts, policymakers, and partners to ensure that every student—especially in underserved communities—has access to the opportunities, tools, and training needed to shape their future and not just survive it.
Our AI programming is bold, innovative, and designed to deliver AI fluency to K-12 students rapidly.
AI-FIRST (Fluency in Intelligent Reasoning, Systems & Tools) is NIAIE’s flagship certification program. It helps K–12 schools align curriculum, train staff, and engage students with real-world AI tools and projects.
PromptPoint is a student debate series where participants use generative AI to argue real-world topics. It builds AI fluency and critical thinking through regional qualifiers and a national tournament at the AIxCHANGE Show.
The AIxCHANGE Show combines student AI projects and showcases with a career fair, educator training, and policy discussions. It connects classrooms with the growing AI workforce and innovation economy.
